Oil & Gas
Slip Testing.

Aberdeen, the North East, and the broader Scottish oil and gas sector present specialist slip testing requirements — from offshore platforms and onshore refineries through to marine supply terminals, helidecks, and service-company depots.

Risk profile

Where slips
actually happen.

Every sector has distinct slip risk zones. Scottish oil & gas premises share these common high-risk patterns — where UKAS-accredited testing delivers the most measurable safety and claims-defence value.

ZONE/01

Platforms and installations

Offshore platforms, FPSOs, and fixed installations have extensive walkway, stair, and deck surfaces subject to salt spray, hydrocarbon contamination, and extreme weather. Testing requires specialist access planning.

ZONE/02

Onshore refineries and petrochemical sites

Grangemouth, Aberdeen, and Fife petrochemical sites have extensive high-risk pedestrian routes — control rooms, maintenance walkways, rack-pipe transit corridors.

ZONE/03

Helidecks and transit zones

Helidecks are safety-critical surfaces with specific slip resistance requirements. Testing requires co-ordination with flight operations.

ZONE/04

Supply bases and marine terminals

Aberdeen supply base, Peterhead, Montrose, and other marine terminals handle continuous wet-surface activity with heavy loading equipment.

FAQ

Questions from
Scottish oil & gas operators.

Do you attend offshore platforms and installations?

Onshore testing of oil and gas facilities is routine for us. Offshore attendance requires specialist safety training (BOSIET/HUET) and is handled on an instructed basis — we work with operator and contractor safety teams to arrange compliant attendance.

Can you test Grangemouth and North East refinery environments?

Yes. We have testing experience at major Scottish petrochemical and refining facilities, working around site-specific safety procedures and contractor induction requirements.

Are there specialist slip standards for helidecks?

Helidecks follow Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and OGUK guidance alongside BS 7976 / BS EN 16165. Helideck surfaces are high-consequence safety-critical surfaces subject to specific testing and re-testing expectations.
